KöR® In-Office Teeth Whitening with Dr. Amy Farmer

Dr. Amy Farmer is proud to offer the KöR in-office whitening system. Unlike other, older teeth whitening procedures, the KöR in-office system does not use hot lights or lasers that could cause teeth sensitivity. Instead, KöR in-office teeth whitening uses a safe, topical whitening agent to lift stains and make teeth whiter. The entire KöR in-office whitening treatment takes less than two hours to finish, after which you will see an immediate change — from dingy, stain-ridden teeth to a bright, natural-looking smile.

How KöR In-Office Teeth Whitening Works

There are two types of tooth stains: extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic stains are surface tooth stains, whereas intrinsic stains discolor the tooth at a deeper level, under the enamel. Over-the-counter teeth whiteners can remove extrinsic stains, but are not strong enough to penetrate deeper, to the intrinsic stains. The result is that teeth still look discolored after these treatments.

The KöR in-office teeth whitening system removes both extrinsic and intrinsic stains from your teeth using a topical whitening agent that includes hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. The oxygen molecules in these ingredients remove stains by breaking up the discolored molecules deep down under the enamel of the teeth. The oxygen molecules then spread over the teeth, whitening them further.

The KöR In-Office Teeth Whitening Treatment

Dr. Farmer suggests taking ibuprofen one hour prior to your visit in order to reduce post-bleaching tooth sensitivity. Dr. Farmer also has products to help with tooth sensitivity; ask her about these options when making your appointment.

The KöR in-office whitening process begins by using a soft material that is placed around your tissues, and then hardened. This creates a protective barrier so that your tissues are not irritated or harmed from the bleach. Next, a topical bleach is applied to all of the teeth in your smile line. This is left on for three 20-minute intervals. Upon completion of the three bleaching cycles, the protective layer and bleach is removed, revealing your new, whiter smile.

Opalescence® Take-Home Whitening Trays

For your convenience, Dr. Farmer also offers Opalescence take-home teeth whitening trays in addition to her in-office teeth whitening treatments. These trays are custom-fitted to your teeth by an impression that Dr. Farmer makes of your mouth. They can be worn comfortably at your convenience, at any time of the day. Using a lower intensity bleaching agent, this take-home treatment can whiten teeth in two weeks or less. Just wear them for an hour every day for up to two weeks for a fresher, lighter smile!

KöR Ultra-T Deep Bleaching with Dr. Amy Farmer

The KöR Ultra-T deep bleaching system offered by Dr. Farmer is a longer lasting teeth whitening treatment that removes even the deepest, most ingrained stains under the tooth enamel. Even dark tooth stains — such as those caused by tetracycline — can be removed with this treatment!

Safe for teeth and gums, this KöR deep bleaching treatment provides a natural-looking, white smile — with no tooth sensitivity resulting from the treatment, unlike other in-office teeth whitening systems. This system rejuvenates and restores your teeth to a more youthful state where they can absorb bleaching factors more quickly and easily. As a result, at-home maintenance will be more effective and you will still be able to consume coffee, tea, and even red wine!

How KöR Deep Bleaching Works

Filled with a deep bleaching gel that is absorbed deeply into the tooth, the KöR deep bleaching treatment uses bleaching trays that are sealed along the gum line to prevent saliva from contaminating the bleaching effects of the gel, preserving its potency and maximum whitening capability. These trays fit comfortably in the mouth, and there is no leaking of the bleaching agent into the mouth.

The KöR deep bleaching system is able to fully rejuvenate the teeth and restore their ability to absorb bleaching factors. This is achieved by allowing pigments and stain molecules to be fully flooded by the bleaching factors found in the gel, which thoroughly break down large stain molecules to ultra-small colorless and white particles. As such, the KöR deep bleaching treatment is useful for permanently removing both intrinsic and extrinsic stains.

The KöR Deep Bleaching Treatment

The KöR deep bleaching treatment involves a combination of one or two in-office visits followed by the use of custom-made take-home bleaching trays. An in-office treatment lasts approximately 20 minutes. After this treatment, you will be sent home with trays to wear for the following two to four weeks; you can wear them comfortably and conveniently at night while you sleep. Depending on the extent of staining in your teeth, a second in-office treatment may be needed after you have finished the at-home bleaching. Once the treatment is complete, the dramatic whitening effects will be apparent, as you can expect your teeth to be up to 16 times whiter!
